An Update on Mysterio
DELTA General Manager The Sandman wasted no time in addressing the injury sustained by Rey Mysterio at the hands of Batista last week. Due to severely bruised ribs and a separated shoulder, Rey Mysterio would not be able to compete at Hunted. For that reason, Sandman called John Cena to the ring, with the intent of awarding him the championship by default.
However, the leader of the Cenation was adamant that his title victory was “not like this” — he wanted to earn the championship inside the ring. This statement prompted the arrival of Batista, who said he would ‘happily’ volunteer to take Mysterio’s spot. Sandman told both superstars that he’d seen “the inmates running the asylum” over on PSI and didn’t want that; but he’d allow Cena to make the call. Mr Hustle-Loyalty-Respect made Batista an offer — if he could beat Cena in tonight’s main event, he would see him at Hunted!

Kofi Kingston vs Jack SwaggerThe All-American American tries to wear down Kingston
Having defeated Christian last week, Kofi Kingston looked to continue to build momentum heading towards the triple-threat match for the United States Championship at Hunted. In his way this week was his other Hunted opponent, Jack Swagger. From the announce table, Captain Charisma provided several excuses for his shortcomings the previous week; and exclaimed Swagger should be “grateful” for his strategy of slowing down the high-flyer. An All-American wrestler, Swagger looked to use his takedowns and wrestling skills to his advantage against the Jamaican Sensation. But as had happened last week, Kingston was able to use his athletic strikes to his advantage, dropping his opponent with a Trouble in Paradise. With two victories now over his Hunted opponents, is Kingston on the way to championing the United States of “Boom-erica”?

A Second Chance
Following their loss to Hawkins and Ryder the previous week, Sting and AJ Styles lobbied with Sandman to give them a shot at entry into the tag-team championship match, noting the numbers advantage PSI had to claim the titles. Though Sandman originally resisted the idea, he instead had another way to “one-up” the rival brand — by turning the US Championship match into a fatal four-way. Sting and AJ Styles would compete later in the night to determine who would get the final spot in the fatal four-way match.

Zack Ryder (with Curt Hawkins) vs Mark HenryCurt Hawkins provides assistance to Zack Ryder's pinfall attempt
With their triple threat tag-team matchup just over a week away; Hawkins and Ryder took to the ring for a tune-up match against Mark Henry. While the numbers may not be in their favour at Hunted — with two other teams to compete against — the Long-time Long Island friends used their numbers against the World’s Strongest Man to their favour, with Hawkins providing distractions and some illegal assistance during the pin fall in order to help Ryder claim victory.

Sting vs AJ StylesAJ Styles thrilled the DELTA fans with the Phenomenal Forearm
After falling short in their quest for tag-team gold, “Team TNA” faced off for one last chance at the United States Championship. As two veterans of the business, The Phenomenal One and The Icon showed each other great respect, but also great experience, being able to counter each other’s repertoire and offset each other’s approach. But after AJ Styles locked in the Calf Crusher on Sting, everything seemed to change. Targeting Sting’s leg made him less agile and more susceptible to Styles’ strikes, and after AJ hit the Phenomenal Forearm, it was all over for Sting’s hopes at leaving Hunted with gold. The two shook hands as AJ Styles looked ahead to his United States Championship match, now just over a week away.

The Animal is Ready
Backstage before his match with John Cena, Batista had a short and clear message for his opponent — that he would do exactly the same thing to Cena that he did to Rey Mysterio last week; and at Hunted, he would walk out the champion. While the fans may call him “The Animal”, he’s an unleashed beast.

John Cena vs BatistaHow many obstacles will Cena face in his path to the World Heavyweight Championship?
The number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship faced off against Batista, with the stipulation that Batista winning would enter him into the World Heavyweight Championship match at Hunted. Batista was relentless in his pursuit of gold against Cena, throwing him around the ring and bruising his face with brutal punches. But as the match wore on, Cena mounted a comeback, fighting off The Animal. When Batista tried to end his opponent with a Batista Bomb, Cena was able to push off Batista’s shoulders, spin him around into an Attitude Adjustment, and then force him to submit with an STF. Cena’s celebration was cut short by a brief lighting malfunction, but when the lights came back on, Cena looked to make a swift exit with a look of grave concern on his face. Yet a loud bell toll cast the arena in a deep blue light, which seemed to confirm Cena’s fears. The Undertaker has arrived at DELTA... and he may be hunting Cena!
